"The Party"
(make sure you watch the video before reading this )
When asked to create a video for Interpersonal Skill our whole group agreed very fast. The main theme of our video is Influencing and getting influenced. How one group can influence someone in doing something he wouldn't normally do. Our main goal was to shock and surprise but as well bring emotion into the video. We showed how fast things can happen when you simply don't pay attention to what is around you...Throughout our video we show a group of teenagers doing a party at their house. Nothing seems abnormal when you watch the video for the first time. But once you look closer and you get to the very end you understand that everything is not what it seems, everything turns backwards and in this case we did it on purpose. If you look very closely in the background of each clip we have one person, John (Benjamin), who is alone, and clearly getting influenced, if not forced, into drinking, smoking and so on.
We can see him at the end, trying to get into his car, completely drunk and alone. No one cared enough to stop him. Which would have saved his life. Furthermore we tried to sensibilize the viewers, next time you see someone alone, or doing things he/she does not want do , speak up. People were clearly seeing what was going on at the party but no one spoke up which is one of the reason why he got in his car. If he wasn't forced to even come to the party in the first place, nothing would have happened. If people cared a little more, this wouldn't have happened. I think we have all been through similar situations. Situations where you try to change yourself to feel like loved. The feeling of not belonging. Changing yourself in order to be accepted in a group.
Overall, and as a way to conclude we tried to show that nothing is better than staying yourself. There is no need to do things you are against. Also, showing that a group of people can have a significant impact and that it can be ever hard to resist the pressure you are put under.
Thank you for watching. We hope you understood our message.
