I´m João Breda I´m 18 years old and I am currently studying Global Marketing at IPAM Porto. I have a passion for Radical sports and a devotion to Nature and traveling.
 In this work I will talk about self-motivation as a very important component of interpersonal skills. I will explain the basics about this concept and give some tips for people to use in the daily basis.

What is self-motivation?
Self-motivation is a force that makes people want to achieve goals and do things and improve the quality of life. So many writers, philosophers, scientists and researchers tried to explain this concept in book, articles, blogs, etc… that in the days we live in there are hundreds of tips and plans for people to follow in order to have a higher level of self-motivation.

Daniel Goleman, writer of many recognized books related with emotion intelligence identified four main pillars of Motivation:
·         Personal drive to achieve, the desire to improve or to meet certain standards;
·         Commitment to personal or organisational goals;
·         Initiative, which he defined as ‘readiness to act on opportunities’; and
·         Optimism, the ability to keep going and pursue goals in the face of setbacks.
It has been proved that self-motivation can help you in so many aspects of life, the tendency is that people that are self-motivated tend be more confident, have a better organisation and time management.
