Sometimes we are so convinced of knowing an answer that we do not even ask ourselves the question. However, other times, the most mundane things keep their mystery.
To the question of why there are people who bite their nails the most common answer is: nerves.
Even some of those who have this habit, often described as an adiction, would answer the same. But if others would confirm what several studies have revealed: eating your nails is not necessarily a sign of nervousness or anxiety.
People also do it when they are bored, hungry, frustrated or trying to complete a difficult task.To dissapoint you guys it is "a common but unresolved problem in psychiatry, psychology, medicine and dentistry"
There is research that shows that a third of those who eat their nails have relatives who also do it, and that it is common among twins that if one does, the other also.
The point is that :fingernails can have consequences that go beyond the aesthetic:
Bacteria and warts!
Bringing your fingers to your mouth is to take everything they have to a damp place in which some undesirables can thrive.Although there are those who suggest that far from hurting, those who eat their nails have a stronger immune system because they are introduced little by little, the evidence is difficult to find.
The fact is that under the nails are lodged, for example, potentially pathogenic bacteria, biting your nails can lead to teeth becoming deformed or wearing out prematurely.Bacterial infections caused by nail biting are one of the most common nail problems.
Can I give you an advice?
STOP DOING IT!
