On the job training is that your your training while you work usually with the help of a more skilled and experience worker. When talking about on the job training we should consider that there advantages and disadvantages that come with. Advantages of training on the job are that it is costly friendly to the employer, you being productive even your not at 100% your still giving some contribution while doing on the job training and employees will most of the time learn faster with it. As to disadvantages of on the job training are that your not being productive, most of the times the learning process is rushed and it can even cause disturbance to other workers.

Demonstration / instruction - showing the trainee how to do the job Coaching - a more intensive method of training that involves a close working relationship between an experienced employee and the trainee Job rotation - where the trainee is given several jobs in succession, to gain experience of a wide range of activities (e.g. a graduate management trainee might spend periods in several different departments)
Projects - employees join a project team - which gives them exposure to other parts of the business and allow them to take part in new activities. Most successful project teams are "multi-disciplinary"
To conclude when choosing on the job training employers should take into consideration the various advantages and disadvantages that come with it, depending on the Industry your working on. Another thing that I believe is very important is that employers should know the right methods of on the job training so they can teach the most clearable and understandable way so employees can be more productive in their work.
